My kids are going to KILL ME! Because, yup, I have Pitbull lyrics hanging in our kitchen. Not only do my teenagers think I am old and decrepit, they think Pitbull is old, AND creepy. In fact, that's kind of the reason I chose Pitbull lyrics. I like to antagonize my teenagers. It's fun.
That's living in the moment.
I had a canvas, I had some burlap, and I had some Thickers. It came out kinda cute, but now it needs something. I think it would look A LOT better with a frame of sorts.
This is where I need your help. What should I do?
Here are some ideas I found around the webby world.
Might be fun to make a cluster of paper flowers made from music sheets, and either frame around the burlap, or maybe cluster some paper flowers in a corner or two. Source
Or it might look good with wood shims, framing the lyrics...source
I like the idea of making a twig frame too. Source
The overlapped ribbon looks great, like above. Using some sort of natural looking material. Source
I saw this tutorial on making a burlap mat. It's essentially burlap glued to cardboard. I was thinking maybe I could used a different shade of burlap and maybe stencil the boarder with a pattern. Source
Or just wrap it, for an interesting look. Source
So, what do YOU think? Leave me a comment and let me know.
Until I make a decision, Pitbull is hangin' all Nekkid in the kitchen. Creeping out the kids.
Come party in the meantime!

Can't wait to see what you decide. It's always fun to creep out the kids :)
ReplyDeleteThey all seem like pretty cool choices! I love the paper flowers. They might not be the best choice for this project, but they are good for something for sure!
ReplyDeleteSweet message! Love how you framed it:)
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny wanting to torture those kiddos. ;-) Since your word are is so neutral I think a frame with a pop of color would be the best. What about something like this? Its so inexpensive, but looks like you paid a good amt of money! http://www.thepinningmama.com/2013/07/01/how-to-make-a-vintage-picture-frame-with-dry-brush-technique/
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Funny, believe me in a few years, when they're all young adults, they'll appreciate Pitbull! Love the shim frame!
ReplyDeleteI think the music sheet flowers ( just a few) in one of the corners, and then maybe if you could some how dye the burlap frame to match another colour in your kitchen? Would look fantastic. Turquoise Blue would look nice!
ReplyDeleteNot sure, but I think I like the flowers best. Hey, those are some great lyrics, what do kids know!
ReplyDeleteLooks great.
Hugs,
Patti
Thank you all for your awesome suggestions! I love the flowers, but I'm leaning towards the shims, mainly because I can stain them to match the wood floors! And I think that might look cool in our kitchen... Waiting for a day that's not 100 degrees! Then I might finish up! Julia
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the darker burlap frame. I noticed when I was in JoAnn's fabric store the other day that they have polka dot burlap, or script words, chevron, etc... that might be cute as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and commenting on my mousetrap art!
